Weir to race for record seventh London Marathon


With only nine weeks until the start of the London Marathon wheelchair-race, Paralympic Champion Richard Weir announces he will be attempting a record seventh win.

After an intense build up to London 2012 and following a few disappointing performances after the Games Weir took a break from the sport to recharge and refocus.

“I’ve got that hunger back now, and I’ve been training really hard again because I still have the desire to overtake Tanni’s record. I promised last year I wouldn’t stop until I’ve done it, and now I’m fired up to win again.

Weir won’t have it all his own way though. IPC World Champion Marcel “Silver Bullet” Hug will be hoping to add the London Marathon victory to the five gold medals he won last year in Lyon, France.
